On the southwest coast of Norway, Bergen has been an important harbor for centuries. All year round its huge open-air fish market is a feast for the senses-pick up some fresh boiled shrimp and eat it at the waterfront. You may also like to take in a concert by the Bergen Philharmonic Orchestra, hike one of the Seven Mountains surrounding the city, or see some artifacts uncovered from the 12th century at the Bryggens Museum.
