An hour south of Zurich, with fabulous mountain views, lake cruises and a picturesque old quarter, Lucerne, Switzerland, has attracted visitors for centuries. The River Reuss flows through the city - be sure to walk through the famous covered bridge spanning the waterway. Riverbanks on either side are filled with medieval squares, frescoed houses, and ancient churches and chapels. The city lies on Lake Lucerne, and is surrounded by mountains.
